When we have visitors, we always take them to Chantecleer.  It's classic and it's Vermont.  Classical French Provinçial cuisine served in an old dairy barn charmingly remodeled with huge fieldstone fireplace and intimate dining nooks. Dinner 6–closing. Closed Mon. & Tues. Fax 362-5756.

Just had an excellent meal here.  A chef-owned, two-hundred year tradition on the corner of the town green, the Dorset Inn’s tavern and two dining rooms feature the gourmet cuisine of owner and chef Sissy Hicks. Vermont’s oldest continuously operating inn offers 29 guest rooms and 2 suites. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner served daily 5pm-9pm. Fireplaces in the Tavern and Dining Room.

One Christmas eve, perhaps before the early evening mass, we had the best meal ever at the Four Columns Inn.  Gifted Chef Greg Parks, honored by the James Beard Foundation, has earned the restaurant Four Diamonds by AAA and a coveted membership in DiRoNA with his exquisite blend of New American, Asian and French cuisine. “The meal was among the finest we’ve had anywhere” The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Great place for kids and families to the end of a skiing day. Italian entrees, fresh pizzas, pastas, calzones, and salad bar; casual; late night pizza and pool table in the bar.  (Just don't try the fish or any expensive meal.  I could not break my salmon with a knife.)

A favorite of our for years.  But, we must warn you, the food and wine can be too good.  One night we could not leave with another couple until we racked up a $500 bill.  It was worth it.  Located in a 200 year old colonial House, Serge Roche prepares American food with French influence.
